What makes a classroom eco-friendly? - Kate Warr makes us wonder in her article
She starts off by talking about energy efficiency and makes it clear that insulation used for residential houses is just as possible to use on buildings like schools or colleges. We learn about how important it is to put a stop on energy loss, telling us that 30-40% of it can be lost due to draught. Even though preservation of energy has the big role in making classrooms greener, there are many more things we need to look out for: Materials used to build classrooms - Use recycled materials! For wooden furniture - choose Timber. Doors and windows should be made out of aluminum. Use LED lamps - Turn the lights on only when it's necessary! Recycling bins - cardboard, paper, plastic. Print on both sides. Use mail instead of letters. Use projector instead of printing worksheets. Finally, teach your students, teach your peers, teach your colleges and make them environmentally conscious.
